Understanding the Nervous System

Learn how the nervous system influences labor, pain perception, emotional well-being, and the body's natural ability to birth. Together, we'll explore how creating a sense of safety can support the physiological birth process.

Comfort Measures for Labor

Explore effective comfort techniques that can help ease discomfort and promote progress during labor, including:

  • Breathwork and relaxation techniques

  • Recognize signs of tension and learn how to release them

  • Movement and positioning

  • Massage and touch

  • Counterpressure

  • Vocalization

  • Creating a supportive birth environment

Stages of Labor: What to Expect & What to Do

Gain a clear understanding of each stage of labor and practical ways to support the laboring person during:

  • Early Labor

  • Active Labor

  • Transition

  • Pushing & Birth

Learn what is happening physiologically, common signs and sensations, and helpful comfort measures for each phase.

Birth of your baby, birth of the placenta & immediate postpartum

Discuss the final moments of labor, the birth process, immediate skin-to-skin contact, and what to expect in the first hours after birth.

Learn about the third stage of labor, the delivery of the placenta, normal postpartum changes, and ways to support recovery and bonding during the early postpartum period.
